The Exploited have announced their return to Australia and New Zealand, closing a run of 12 shows – nine in the former country and three in the latter – over two weeks in November.
The iconic Scottish punks kick off in Geelong on Thursday November 9, followed by shows in Melbourne, Adelaide and Perth for the rest of the week. Then from the following Wednesday (November 15) they will play back-to-back shows in Coolangatta, Brisbane, Avalon Beach, Sydney and Newcastle. To top it all off, they head to New Zealand for concerts in Christchurch, Wellington and Auckland.
Tickets for all 12 performances are on sale now – find them here.
The run comes in belated celebration of The Exploited’s 40th anniversary – which the band celebrated in 2019 – after a planned 2020 tour was canceled due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.
Originally scheduled for March, the band long vowed they would be able to make the tour work; reacting to reports of other acts canceling their tours, frontman Wattie Buchan said at the time: “Fuck coronavirus! I’ve had 5 heart attacks a quad heart bypass and a pacemaker fitted. You wanna cancel gigs because of a virus? We’re fucking not Green Day piss – we are the real deal No danger will cancel our upcoming gigs [sic].”
Despite this statement being made on March 12 – a day before the band was due to perform the first show of their tour – the run was actually cancelled. The Exploited last toured Down Under in 2015, eight years after their Australian debut in 2007.
Although the band still tour regularly, The Exploited’s last new music came 20 years ago. Their most recent effort was ‘Fuck The System’ – their eighth studio album – released in February 2003.
