Her grandfather, David Keith-Lucas, worked as an aerodynamicist in Kent during the Second World War, and her grandmother, Dorothy de Bauduy Robertson, died in a car accident in 1979.

Career
Lucas first worked in the French Alps for two winter seasons. She eventually joined the Met Office and began working as a weather forecaster at its Exeter headquarters in 2007. She subsequently joined the BBC as a broadcast assistant in 2008 and her first television appearance came in the summer of 2009.
Lucas projected the weather for shops and airports while working at the Met Office in Exeter. Aside from her career in television, she enjoys traveling, camping, sailing and spending time in nature. She also co-hosts the BBC World News channels Climate Check and Weather World with Nick Miller, and she sometimes broadcasts weather-related documentaries on BBC News.
