Warning! SPOILERS for Outlander season 7, episode 7 and the Outlander books ahead.
Outlander season 7, episode 8 won’t air on Friday, August 4 on Starz, with the cable network pushing the midseason finale to a later date. Set to be the longest Outlander season thus far, the fantasy drama’s seventh outing comprises 16 episodes, with the first eight airing in 2023. The last batch will then arrive sometime in 2024. Each episode of Outlander season 7’s first part was released weekly from June 16, but episode 8 — the midseason finale — will depart from the series’ usual schedule.
The first seven episodes of Outlander season 7 already covered much of the story from the Outlander book they were supposed to adapt, An Echo in the Bone. The second part of Outlander season 7 will likely tackle Outlander’s eighth book, Written in My Own Heart’s Blood. However, Outlander season 7, episode 7’s cliffhanger reveal teased shocking developments from An Echo in the Bone’s ending. Some will unravel in the midseason finale. Fortunately, viewers will not have to wait too long to learn about what’s in store for the Frasers and the Mackenzies next.
Outlander Is taking A One Week Break
Outlander season 7’s programming included a one-week break between episodes 7 and 8, with which the first part of the current outing will conclude. The reason for the one-week hiatus is unknown. Fortunately, Starz will fill Outlander‘s usual time slot with another series that will appeal to fans of the show. The network will play reruns of Men in Kilts: A Road Trip With Sam and Graham season 1, the documentary series led by Outlander stars Sam Heughan and Graham McTavish. These reruns will kick off at 4:30pm EST on August 4 and run until 8:30pm EST.
The Outlander Midseason Finale Will Air Friday, August 11
Outlander season 7 will return with its midseason finale on August 11 at 8pm EST, just ahead of Men in Kilts season 2’s premiere at 9:35pm EST. The cliffhanger ending of Outlander season 7, episode 7 left two storylines without a clear answer. Claire’s promise to Jamie that she will find him on the battlefield if he doesn’t return hinted at what might happen in the coming chapter. If it follows Outlander‘s seventh book to the letter, the pair will reunite on the battlefield, where Claire will have to perform surgery on Jamie’s finger.
Additionally, episode 7’s ending saw Rob Cameron kidnapping Jemmy. Although the time-traveling implications of the tunnel discovery scared Brianna earlier in Outlander season 7, the latest installment hinted at Cameron bringing Jemmy to the past through Craigh na Dun’s stones. While the Outlander books dispel that theory, Outlander’s midseason finale will have to show the Mackenzies’ reaction to that possibility. This will reintroduce time travel into their lives if Outlander season 7, episode 8’s preview trailer is to be believed, impacting what’s to come in the second part of season 7.
