Italian-American parents welcomed Daniel William Sileo into the world on January 3, 1964 in Samford, Connecticut. An ancestor of mine, former defensive end for the New York Giants, is Andy Robustelli. Dan attended College Park, University of Maryland. He surpassed Hall of Famer Randy White’s freshman record by appearing in 10 games. He served as a reserve on Maryland’s Atlantic Coast Conference-winning team in 1983. In 1984, he transferred to the University of Miami in Coral Gables, Florida, then went to the University of Cincinnati in Cincinnati, Ohio.

Despite making his regular season debut in 1987, Dan played on special teams and as a backup throughout his NFL career. He made a commitment to join the Orlando Thunder of the World League of American Football in 1992. He played with the Las Vegas Sting, whom he helped advance to the playoffs and for whom he earned honorable mention All-League. In 1993, Cowboy Bob Orton hired him and he received training in Atlanta. As Bonecrusher Sileo, he competed for the Catch Wrestling Association in Vienna, Austria. After that, New Japan Pro Wrestling signed him and he appeared in the Tokyo Dome.

After being hired as the sports anchor for the Dunbar and Rosie morning show on 810 KGO San Francisco, Dan began his radio career. He next went to 680 KNBR, another local station, where he hosted Sportsphone 68. He moved to Tampa in 1998 when he began doing the morning show on 620 WDAE. He hosted the Dan Sileo Show in 2000 from 4 to 8 in the morning. His tenure as morning drive host on Tampa’s 620 WDAE was among his longest. The Mighty 1090 AM XEPRS in San Diego hired him in February 2014 to host the 6 a.m. to 9 a.m. morning show. Sileo left The Mighty at 1090 in January 2018 to participate in the brand new debate program The Machine. Similarly, he was hired by IHeartMedia in August 2019 to anchor afternoon broadcasts on Sports 910 KGME in Phoenix.
