The chef believed to have invented the world-famous Chicken Tikka Masala recipe, Ali Ahmed Aslam, died unexpectedly on Monday at the age of 77.
Who was Ali Ahmed?

Aslam opened Shish Mahal in Glasgow in 1964. Aslam was born in Pakistan but immigrated to the UK with his family when he was a young teenager.
How was Chicken Tikka Masala created?
At Ali’s restaurant, the recipe for chicken tikka masala was created. While serving Chicken Tikka one day, his customer asked for extra sauce because the dish was a bit dry.
He decided that the chicken should be cooked with some sauce. So he proceeded to prepare chicken tikka with a sauce made of yogurt, cream and spices. It is a dish made according to the customer’s preferences. They typically can’t stand hot curry, so he makes it with yogurt and cream.
As well as being the most popular, chicken tikka masala is now considered a true British national delicacy as it perfectly demonstrates how Britain absorbs and adopts foreign influences.
