Erica’s hometown is El Paso, Texas, while most of her education and professional life has been spent in San Diego. She attended Grossmont College and graduated from San Diego State. She later interned with Team10’s investigative unit before becoming a full-time producer at ABC10 News.
She spent some of the time producing in her hometown of El Paso, but she couldn’t wait to return to San Diego to continue her work with even more passion. Her team members describe her as a dedicated woman with a dry sense of humor who entertained everyone on the stages; they also describe her as saying that the news was in her blood. She was a proud mother to her son and one of her favorite moments was when he graduated in April.
They both shared a love of Padres Baseball and attended many games at Petco against the Friar Faithful together. The three most important loves in her life were her family, the flag and her brothers.
Along with their professional achievements in journalism, she was forced to join the Marine Corps when the nation suffered from 9/11 where she served proudly for eight years. The saying goes, “Once a Marine, Always a Marine.” She not only served her viewers with her passion and talent but also served the country.
