With The Wheel of Time season 2 approaching its final few episodes, there are 10 big moments to expect as the story winds down. The Wheel of Time has been somewhat unpredictable in its adaptation of Robert Jordan’s fantasy series, often glossing over big plot points from the books. The show has also pulled some scenes straight from the books, however, so the Wheel of Time books remain a useful resource for predicting what will happen next.
The Wheel of Time season 2 mostly adapts the second book of Jordan’s novel series, The Great Hunt, however, it also covers some events from the third book in the series, The Dragon Reborn. The show has used the events from these books to introduce multiple Wheel of Time book characters, setting up the final stretch of the season to line up roughly with the end of The Great Hunt. By taking a look at how The Great Hunt ends along with the events in The Wheel of Time season 2 up to this point, 10 moments stand out as being likely to occur by the end of this season.
10 Rand Duels High Lord Turak
One big event to expect by the end of The Wheel of Time season 2 is Rand’s duel with the Seanchan’s High Lord Turak. In the books, Rand and Turak, who is a blademaster, duel for The Wheel of Time‘s Horn of Valere. Rand sneaks his way into Turak’s apartments, and after fighting his way there, the two cross blades in an epic duel. Rand wins the fight, despite Turak’s elite skill with a sword. This is especially notable because Rand defeating a blademaster technically makes him one as well, though he denies it since no living witnesses can attest to his victory.
9 Nynaeve And Elayne Free Egwene
Egwene’s predicament in The Wheel of Time season 2, episode 5 lays the groundwork for the show to recreate the rescue scene from The Great Hunt. Not unlike what happened in the books, Egwene was collared with an a’dam, which is a ter’angreal that basically enslaves women who can channel. The Seanchan put a’dam on any woman capable of channeling the One Power, calling them damane. They are no less than slaves, forced to use their channeling ability whenever called upon. Luckily for Egwene, Nynaeve and Elayne are destined to free her and remove the a’dam from her neck.
8 Geofram Bornhald Dies Fighting The Seanchan
Another event from The Great Hunt that looks likely to occur in The Wheel of Time season 2 is the death of Geofram Bornhald, one of the Lords Captain of the Children of the Light. This is a significant moment because Geofram’s son, Dain, blames his father’s death on Perrin and becomes obsessed with exacting revenge on him. This moment is set up in The Wheel of Time season 2, episode 5 when Dain is introduced in the town Perrin visits. The rivalry between them is foreshadowed by Perrin and Aviendha’s fight with the Whitecloaks, making it likely Geofram will die and move this plot point forward.
7 Rand Fights Ishamael In The Sky Over Falme
At the end of The Wheel of Time book 2, Rand duels Ishamael, the most powerful of The Wheel of Time‘s Forsaken, in the sky above Falme. Their fight doesn’t actually take place in the sky, it’s projected into the sky after Rand is injured by Ishamael. This is the climax of the book, and it appears likely to happen in the show as well because Ishamael is already in Falme, and he discussed luring Rand there in a conversation with Lanfear during season 2, episode 5. This is an epic fight, which Rand wins, but not one that happens without consequence. Rand sustains serious wounds from the battle.
6 Mat Blows The Horn Of Valere
Arguably one of the most important developments featured in The Great Hunt is the moment where Mat blows the Horn of Valere. In the book, Mat blows the Horn when he and his friends are trapped between the Seanchan and White Cloak armies. The Heroes of the Horn emerge and chase the Seanchan back into the sea in one of the best battles from the book series. It’s hard to say at this point how Mat will get the honor of becoming the Hornsounder, but given the importance of this scene, the show finding a way to get Mat to Falme (to blow the Horn) makes a lot of sense for the show.
5 Rand Is Officially Declared The Dragon Reborn
Rand being officially declared the Dragon Reborn could very well be the scene that wraps up The Wheel of Time season 2. After Rand’s epic duel with Ishamael it will be hard for anyone to deny his being the Dragon Reborn. He does not accept it himself until he retrieves Callandor from the Stone of Tear in third book of the series, The Dragon Reborn, but considering how many characters will be present during his duel with Ishamael in the show, it will be difficult to hide who he is any longer after that moment.
4 Ingtar Is Revealed As A Darkfriend
One of the biggest reveals from The Great Hunt comes when Ingtar admits to being a Darkfriend. This moment is foreshadowed in the show when Perrin and Ingtar discuss Padan Fain and Ingtar encourages Perrin not to judge him, insisting that everyone has their reasons for what they do. In the book, Ingtar redeems himself by charging into the Seanchan forces, dying to allow time for the others to escape. There’s a good chance this will happen as well, though it’s possible The Wheel of Time will opt to keep Ingtar’s character around a little longer after revealing his hidden loyalties.
3 The Wheel Of Time Pays Off Min’s Mat Vision
In The Wheel of Time season 2, Min has a vision of Mat stabbing Rand. It’s unlikely this will happen in a literal sense considering both characters will be around until the end of the story, but the show is clearly setting up some kind of conflict with Min taking Mat to Cairhien, which is where Rand happens to be. Whether Mat stabs Rand or not, the meaning of this vision will likely be resolved by the end of The Wheel of Time season 2. It’s possible Mat will injure Rand in some way that snaps him out of Lanfear’s trap in Tel’aran’rhiod.
2 Rand & Elayne Finally Cross Paths
Another thing The Wheel of Time season 2 seems to be setting up is Rand finally meeting Elayne. In the books, Rand meets her in Caemlyn on his way to the Eye of the World. That did not happen in The Wheel of Time season 1 though, so their first meeting will have to occur somewhere else. With Elayne already in Falme and Rand being set up to travel there, it’s highly likely this is where they will meet. Rand and Elayne see each other briefly in Falme in the books, which makes it even more likely their paths will cross there in the show.
1 Bayle Domon Arrives In Falme
After Moiraine told Bayle Domon to flee as fast and far as possible in The Wheel of Time season 2, it appears likely he will make his way to Falme as he does in the books. Domon becomes involved in Nynaeve and Elayne’s plan to free Egwene after his ship is trapped in the bay by the Seanchan. It’s very possible that the same thing will happen in the show, but even if it doesn’t, Domon looks set to journey to Falme. The city is on the remote western shore of the continent, so it’s a logical place for Domon to flee to after Moiraine’s warning.
